Lorene Seamans, 94, of Pierre formerly of Draper, died Friday, October 27, at Beverly Healthcare in Pierre. Visitation will be from 3-5pm Wednesday, November 1, at the Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre. With a prayer service at 5pm Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel in Pierre. Funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00am Thursday, November 2, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Draper, SD with Fr. Timothy Castor officiating. Burial will follow at the Draper City Cemetery

Lorene Cecelia Seamans was born June 4, 1912 on the Jake Serr Place near Belvidere, SD to James and Mary (Yirka) Novak. When she was 6 months old her family moved to Murdo where her father operated a meat market for 2 years. The family then moved to Spencer NE and lived there for seven years. In 1921 the family returned to Murdo when her father purchased a grocery and meat market. Lorene and her older sister Ruth helped their mother after school and Saturdays with daily baking and delivery of 30 loaves of bread to the store. Lorene graduated from Murdo High School in 1930. She received secretarial training at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD. Lorene worked with the Triple A office (ASCS) in Murdo for several years. Lorene and Frank J. Seamans were united in marriage June 19, 1940 at Rapid City, SD. They moved to Midland, MI and lived there for five years, returning to SD in 1945 and a life on the farm. Lorene was affectionately known as "Beanie" to family and friends. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and canning, growing flowers and the Easter season. She was an organist at her church for over 50 years. Lorene became a resident of Beverly Healthcare in Pierre on September 11, 1998 and remained there until she passed away on October 27, 2006. Lorene is survived by her children, Mary Kaye (Norman) Hurst of Mobridge, Joanne Seamans of Pierre, Paul Seamans, David (Lillian) Seamans, and Kurt Seamans all of Draper; three grand daughters, one grandson; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Ruth, husband Frank in October of 1998 and grandson Clint Seamans in February of 1982.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to Jones County Ambulance Service.
