Lyla D. Tholen Prino
Lyla D. Tholen Prino, 66, of Hitchcock, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at The Rio at Mainland Center after a lengthy battle for recovery from Cancer surgery.
Lyla was born December 21, 1949 in Galveston, Texas.
A lifelong resident of Hitchcock and graduate from Hitchcock High School, Lyla pursued many careers from Secretary to Rabbi Jimmy Kessler at Temple B’nai Israel to Peace Officer and Investigator at League City PD, where she received many Commendations, to her retirement from GISD as Assistant Registrar.
Lyla enjoyed the outdoors, music, taking care of her babies Monte and Jazzie and spending time with family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Lyla was preceded in death by her parents Gerald Tholen and Betty Rutledge and her brother Andy Tholen.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Kenneth Welch (Kathy) of Alvin, TX, Misti Autrey (Dale) of Santa Fe, TX, Ian Prino (Brittany) of Hitchcock, TX, Josh Prino (Michelle) of LaMarque, TX; sister Linda Jo Tholen Sembera (Chris) of Alvin, TX, sister in Law Donna Tholen of Hitchcock, TX; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to numerous to mention.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas with interment immediately following in the Urn Garden.

She was born in Galveston, Texas on December 21, 1949. Lyla retired from the Galveston Independent School District. She was a member of the Parrot Heads and had a passion for her family, her babies, and her friends.
She was preceded by her parents Gerald Tholen and Betty Rutledge; and brother Andy Tholen.
Lyla was survived by her sister Linda Jo Tholen-Sembera and husband Chris; her children Kenneth Welch and wife Kathy, Misti Autrey and Dale, Ian Prino and wife Brittany, and Josh Prino and wife Michelle; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Donna Tholen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home.
