Layton Lyndal Boynton was born April 26, 1925 in Kentucky and raised in Tennessee. He passed away Thursday, February 19, 2004 to join God, his wife Doris, and many of his family and friends who have joyfully awaited his arrival. We are saddened by our loss, but rejoice in his reunion with others he loved.

Layton lived his youth in the beautiful foothills of the Smokies in Sequatchie Valley in Dunlap, Tennessee. He left there at the age of sixteen to join the Navy during World War II and remained with the service for twenty-two years. While in the Navy he played professional football and was an air traffic controller. He also met his wife Doris whom he married in 1950. After leaving the Navy he worked at CCAD until his retirement.

Layton was an avid fisherman, hunter, reader of the Bible and a member of the Nueces County Sheriff's Posse. He was also active in politics and his daughter, Karen, will miss those lively and entertaining discussions. He spent much of the last few years developing proficiency with computers, where online, he met and made many friends. They provided him with countless hours of entertainment and friendship.

Layton is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, and his most treasured granddaughter. Also, a brother Frankie, sister-in-law Janice Boynton, of Tennessee; and sister-in-law Betty Jamison of Kansas. His love of all of us, especially his granddaughter will always endure.
Viewing at Seaside Memorial will be Monday, February 23, 2004 with memorial services on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 followed by military graveside services.
