A native of Asheville, Billy was a son of the late John Kimsey and Texie Ann Taylor Lance. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Melinda Holcombe Lance, and by a son, Randall Kim Lance.
Mr. Lance was a Sgt. First Class with the US Army and had been a plumber with J.K. Plumbing. He attended Crossroads Assembly.
Mr. Lance is survived by his son, Steve Lance, daughters, Joy Wells and Charlene English; sister, Edith Barbara Lance; brother, Jimmie Dale Lance; grandchildren, William Costa, Tiffany Reece and Jenny Paterson, and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
