Sherman Smith Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 13, 1950 to the union of Sherman Sr. and Grace Smith. He was one of nine children born.
Sherman attended Hughes Elementary School and John Marshall High School. He served in the Armed Forces (Army) during the Vietnam War.
He worked at the Chicago Bulk Mail Center in Forest Park, Illinois for years until his health declines. He met and married Miss Alice Jones on September 1, 1990.
His father, Sherman Smith, Sr., brother, Bernard Smith and brother-in-law, Michael Davis all preceded him in death.
Sherman departed this life on July 15, 2001 at home surrounded by family.
