Ruth Eva (nee Simon) Kramer, 96, of Fort Thomas, KY. She was born April 5, 1924, the 6th of 12 children of the late Adam Joseph and Clara Diane (nee Kroger) Simon of Cold Spring, KY. Niece of the late Fr. Anthony Kroger, OFM, Fr. Vincent Kroger, OFM and Sister Mary Irenas Kroger- SND. Ruth passed away on Saturday March 27, 2021.
A loving mother of three wonderful children, she is survived by Anthony of Newport, Vincent (Maria) of Westfield, IN and Dr. Mary (Scott) Brueggemeyer of Dayton, OH; Nine grandchildren, Krista Kramer, Adam (Miranda) Kramer, Molly (Bryan) Roell, Sara (Kevin) Kramer Adams, Amelia Kramer, Magdalene Brueggemeyer, Julia Kramer, Eva Brueggemeyer, and Taylor Kramer; Seven great grandchildren; Sisters-in-law Carole Simon of Covington and Janet Simon of Fort Thomas, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband William F (Bill) Kramer, and beloved daughter-in-law Paula (nee Trapp) Kramer; Sisters Alvina (Herm) Steffen, Marcella (Bud) Gubser, Evelyn (Eugene) Crowley, Anna Mae (Robert) Ritter, and Jean (Norman) Nassano and brothers Harold (Flossie), Albert, Rudolph (Libby), Adam (aka Cliff), Anthony (aka Frank)(Jane), and Louis Simon; Sisters-in-law Grace (Alphonse) Pleiman, Mary (George) Messman, Jean (William) Goodhew, and Gertrude Ann (Robert) Donnermeyer.
Ruth was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Covington, KY, Class of 1942.
In addition to raising her three children, she was employed as a secretary at American Auto Insurance Co (1943-1959), as Executive Secretary at Kentucky State Department for Social Services (1979-1986), as Cook at St Joseph Church, Cold Spring and Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, Cincinnati, and at St. Therese School, Southgate in the school Cafeteria.
She was very active in her community of Southgate, KY over the years, including a Charter Member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Southgate Volunteer Fire Department, New Horizons Club, Southgate Super Seniors, Fort Thomas Women's Club, Red Hat Ladies, and Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky.
She was also very active at St. Therese Catholic Church and School where she was a parishioner since 1965, in the Ladies Altar Society (3x Past President), the Bereavement Committee, the Mothers Club, the Legion of Mary, the Over 50 Club, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Therese and at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Gospa Prayer Group, the Marian Movement of Priests for Laymen and Nancy Meyer's Monday Afternoon Rosary Group.
Ruth always loved playing games including Scrabble, Cribbage and Cards. She played in Bridge, Euchre, and Pinochle Clubs. One of those clubs was with her brothers and sisters and as they passed on she most recently played with her nephews.
Ruth loved to travel especially on pilgrimages to Medjugorje, and Jerusalem. She enjoyed dining out with friends and family, especially her nieces. She loved roses and enjoyed flower arranging and photography, too.
Ruth loved life and her family and thanked God "for the gift of another day" every day. She was a prayer warrior that prayed every day for everyone she knew and loved.
May she rest in peace.
Visitation for Ruth will be Monday, April 5, from 3:00pm till 6:00 pm at St. Therese Catholic Church, Southgate, Ky. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:00pm with Reverend Paul Berschied officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at St. Stephen Cemetery. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines are suggested..
