On June 5, 1952 at 5:20pm in Canton, Mississippi, Willie and Margaret Jones started their family with the arrival of a baby girl whom they named Alice Ruth. The family moved to Chicago, IL where Alice attended Pope Elementary and Harrison High Schools. She confessed her faith in Christ and joined Douglas Park Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board. In January of 1969, her life was blessed with her only child, a son, Joey Anterryl.
Alice was involved in several career ventures and set no limits. She was united in holy matrimony to Sherman Smith, Jr. on September 1, 1990 and they shared ten years of marriage until his death on July 15, 2001.
On September 13, 2003 at 7:30pm, on her ONLY brother's birthday (shortly after losing him on July 16, 2003), God saw a need for Alice and she entered into eternal rest. She is forever united with her father Willie, husband Sherman, two brothers, Curt and Percy, and sister Lucy.
She leaves her son Joey, grandchildren Staci, Mann (D'Angelo), and Theopolis; great-grandson Gabriel; Sisters Carol,Helen and LeDora; Aunt Marcella; Uncle Hosea; six nieces; and a host of great nieces, nephews, and friends.
