John , aka "Jack or Zim" Sr was a child of Marie Magdeline Mohler Westenburger, and John Zimmerman. Both of his parents were born in Germany. John was born and grew up in Chicago.
John was in the Navy during WWI, served aboard the battleship "Mississippi". In 1919 he received an Honorable discharge. He was known for his ability and skill of his stunt diving from the highest points available. His greatest stunt was leaping from the crane of the battleship "Mississippi, a drop of ninety feet.
John married Mae Secilia Paulson on Nov 24, 1927 in Los Angeles, CA. They only had one child, John "Jack" Jr. born in 1946 in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, CA.
John and Mae were married for 32 years when John died on Mar 29 1959. Mae and "Jack" are entombed in the Del Prado wall and next to them is Mae's mother and three of her siblings and their spouses.
