Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Rose Cemetery near Rose, with funeral services at 11 a.m. at Burwell Baptist Church in Burwell. Pastors Jeffrey Wohlfert and Jerry Schoenenberger will officiate. Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Gurney was born April 19, 1914, in Scottsbluff to Oral B. and Amy (Grover) Jordan.
Ruth graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett, Neb., then obtained her teaching certificate and taught in rural Rock County.
On March 28, 1936, Ruth married Charles W. "Tam" Gurney. He preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by two infant baby boys.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Charles) Childerston of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a son, Stan (Olive) Gurney of Burwell; seven grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Royce (Lola) Jordan of Ainsworth.
