Howard Monk
Howard L. Monk, 66 1916 N. Michigan, died early today at his home where he had been in ill health for about a year.
He was born Aug. 9, 1899 in Columbus, Kan., and married Nina Gladys Nicely on Mar. 31, 1920 in Bear Lake, Mich. He retired in 1964 from the Carlyle Machine Shop where he had worked as a tool and die maker. He was a member of the First Brethren Church.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Donald and Raymond, Elkhart, and Glenn, North Webster; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Janet) Truex, South Bend; two brothers, Clarence, Bear Lake, and Floyd, Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Alex Tuisku, Kaleva, Mich.; and 10 grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Stemm-Bale Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Charles Lowmaster, pastor of the First Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
