Vera L. Kingery, 70, a resident of Malone, died at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia on Tuesday, May 31, 2005. She was born July 13, 1934 in Goshen, Oregon to Hiram and Edna (Moore) Kingery. She was the eldest of five children. She attended school at Matlock. She had worked at various jobs during her lifetime including cooking for crews on oil rigs and in logging camps in Canada and Alaska. She is survived by her mother Edna of Elma; son, Jeff Smith of Elma; two daughters, Melody and husband Ted Warren of Elma and Roxann and husband Jim Byron of Ketchikan, Alaska; sisters, Ada and husband Sterling Bruce of Elma; Carol Kingery of Palmer, Alaska, Emily and husband Max Lukin of Palmer, Alaska, Florence and husband Jerry Manier of Thorne Bay, Alaska; a brother, Lloyd Kingery and wife Carol of Palmer, Alaska; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at Whiteside Family Mortuary in Elma on Wednesday, June 1, 2005. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association or the family would like to remind people to become an organ donor, as it was very important to their mother.
