Erne E. Kohlmann, 77, of Kiel, died peacefully Wednesday evening, June 10, 2016 at Lighthouse of Sun Prairie assisted living.

Erne was born August 6, 1938 in St. Cloud, son of the late Raymond & Eleanor (Schmitz) Kohlmann. He was a New Holstein High School graduate. On October 29, 1960, he married Bernice Rach at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Erne previously had been employed by Lake-To-Lake as well as Stoelting in Kiel until his retirement. Erne was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Survivors include five children: Jeff Kohlmann, McFarland, WI, Kathy (Scott) Aurand, Flower Mound, TX, Tom (Sharon) Kohlmann, McFarland, WI, Laurie (George) Hodgson, Lantana, TX, Mike (Lisa Girdharry) Kohlmann, Madison, WI. He is further survived by three grandchildren: Taylor Kohlmann, Bryce Kohlmann, and Olivia Hodgson; brothers: Ron (Annette) Kohlmann and Fr. Vernon Kohlmann, and in-laws Arlene (Harold) Schuessler, Ron Rach, Donna (Ralph) Diefenthaler, Marge Sass, Rosie (Ambrose) Stephanie, Marv (Chris) Rach, and Jerry Rach.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Kohlmann, brother-in-law, Charlie Rach, and two sisters-in-law, Delores Rach & Yvonne Rach.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison St., New Holstein. Visitation will be from 11:30AM until the time of mass at 2:00PM; Fr. Vernon Kohlmann and Fr. Larry Abler will officiate. Burial will take place in the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church cemetery, Kiel following mass.

A memorial will be established for the American Heart Association.

Erne’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Lighthouse of Sun Prairie and Agrace Hospice for the care provided.
