Edith Rollins Acevedo, 63, of Dimmitt, died at 11:53 p.m. on Dec. 18 at Plains Memorial Hospital in Dimmitt after a brief illness.
A vigil service was held Wednesday evening at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Churdh in Dimmitt with Father Guillermo Morales, pastor, officiating.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial followed in Castro Memorial Gardens under the direction of Foskey-Lilley McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Mrs. Acevedo was born on Aug. 14, 1932, in Fort Ringgold. She lived in Georgetown before moving to Dimmitt in 1956. She married Julian Acevedo on April 14, 1949 in Donna.
She was a retired clerk for TG&Y and was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Julian Acevedo Jr. of Del Rio, Robert Acevedo of Levelland, Florence Acevedo of Pampa and Albert Acevedo of Dimmitt; two daughters, Mary Helen Flores and Maria Epifania Fuller, both of Dimmitt; four brothers Wesley Rollins, Walter Rollins and Clemente Garza Jr., all of Rio Grande City and Jesus Garza of Waxahachie; two sisters, Maria Elena Salinas of San Antonio and Adelita Rodriguez of Midway City, Calif.; her mother, Adela Garza of Rio Grande City; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
