Hazel Lorine VanZandt is the daughter of Delphia Ann Jones and John York. She was born in Historical Herrin, Illinois.

Known as Lorine, she was a fiesty girl who grew up following the days of the likes of Al Capone in Illinois. She met Earl Otho Coop, while on a trip to visit her brother who was in the Sea Bee's (Navy Group) in San Francisco Bay. They married September 4, 1938 and settled in San Francisco, California. Two children followed: Patricial Lorine & Thomas Earl.

As a grandmother, none better can be found.

Lorine was a great cook, and made special treats for her grandkids. Her oldest grand daughter, felt especially spoiled when others ate watermelon, she got rice crispy treats!

She knew how to save the best "toys" for her grand daughters "kitchen". They were given cottage cheese containers, coffee cans, soap bottles, pie pans, and a picnic table. Imagination was mostly added by the grand daughters.
