J. Mark Ward departed this earth July 30, 2011, after succumbing to injuries following an automobile accident. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Monty and Dorothy Ward McFadden; maternal grandparents, Jewel and Lucille Burnette; and his uncle, Don Ward.
Survivors include his beloved parents, John P. and Elaine Ward; his faithful brother, David Ward; the love of his life, his son, Colton Ward; the mother of his son, Rene Whigham, her husband, Chad; and special little man to his uncle Mark, Caleb Whigham; his step-grandfather, Laurel McFadden; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. today, Aug. 1, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and will be conducted by the Rev. Jim Gibson. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chad Whigham, Chris Everett, Mike Ward, Ernie Droke, Rick Green, and Dustin McPherson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Walker Valley Baseball team and coaches.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Building Fund and the Walker Valley Baseball team.
