Alta A. Dank was born, along with her twin sister, Alva, on May 3, 1912, to Henry E. and Hattie Dank in Eldridge, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Eldridge. In 1937, she and her sister Alva won the national "Twins Trophy" while attending the National Twins Association Convention in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She married Earl R. Berger in December of 1941 and moved to Sacramento, Calif., where they made their home for many years.
Upon her husbands death, she moved back to Davenport to live near her twin sister. She worked, along with her sister as a clerk at Davenport City Hall. She was a member of the Newcomb Presbyterian Church in Davenport, loved working in the yard, and enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Fred Novekoff of Davenport; a nephew, Lew Novekoff of Chicago; and great-nephews, Jim Novekoff and Jeff Novekoff both of Barrington, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, and her twin sister, Alva. Memorials may be made to the Newcomb Presbyterian Church.
