William Vaughan died June 2, 1944, in Madison County, Tennessee. Born April 12, 1874, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, the son of William "Billy" Vaughan and Frances Herriman Vaughan.

William married delia E. Hooper in Hardeman Co., Tennessee.

The William Vaughan family were members of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church near Bolivar. William and Delia (Hooper) were the parents of eight children: Vera (1900-1978), married Garrett M. Hampton; Delia Opal (1903-1976), married Harry Monroe Weaver; Willie Odia (1905) married William M. Greer; Bertha Marcell (1910), married Homer E. Scott; Louise Ellen (1913-1919; Curtis Loal (1916-1971), married Modena Reed; and twin girls who died at birth. All were born in Hardeman County.

William was a farmer as was his father. He lived near Piney Grove at the "old Crowley place". About 1910, the family moved to a new home.
