He is the son of Samuel and Mary (Talcott) Kimberley.

He married Anna White on September 16, 1772 at Bolton, Tolland County, Connecticut.

They had three children, Thomas Kimberley, Anson Kimberley and Electa Kimberley.Thomas Kimberly was born in 1745. His Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather (Eleazar) were all lawyers. Thomas graduated Yale in 1766, and after being admitted into the Bar, practiced law in Connecticut until his untimely death. He just happened to be at the gunpowder factory on Roaring Brook in South Glastonbury owned by George Stocking and sons, when a spark ignited and the factory blew up killing George and three of his sons instantly. Thomas died the next day leaving a wife and a daughter. He was 30 years old.
