Opal Katherine White, 82, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, July, 2004, at Jersey Community hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Richwood Township, Jersey County, Illinois, the daughter of the late Lawrence Lamar Ontis and Clara Jane (Webster) Ontis.
She grew up in the Fieldon and Nutwood area and attended the lone star school, along with the rest of her siblings.
At the age of 33 she married Paul Jackson White on May 14, 1955, in Peoria, and they shared a marriage that spanned over the past 49 years. During their married life, they resided in Delavan,IL., where she was a caregiver for various individuals in their homes. They moved to Jerseyville in 1987, after her husband retired from Caterpillar in Peoria. Once home, she returned to her church at Gospel Assembly, where she was an active and faithful member.
She is survived by her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Janice Evans of Jerseyville; their son, Phillip Tewell and family of Jerseyville; three sisters, Helen Ligus and Ollie Delp, both of Jerseyville, and Velma Martin of Hardy Arkansas; and two brothers, Lawrence Junior Ontis of Nutwood and James Lamar Ontis of Jerseyville.
Crawford Funeral Home is in charge of services, burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville, Illinois.
