Georgia Ann Sharich Rasch, 70, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Cornerstone Villa after a long struggle with various medical problems. Georgia was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Hibbing. She was the oldest of seven children and the daughter to Paul and Mayme (Jacobson) Sharich.

She was united in marriage to her soulmate Clifton in 1965. Two years later they welcomed their first son. From there Georgia went on to become a full-time wife and mother of two children. She worked tirelessly to ensure that her boys had three meals on the table every day. Home-cooked meals were just one of the ways she showed her love for her family. She also taught her family to be respectful of others and treat people how you would wish to be treated. Her greatest joy came when she would watch her sons play athletics. She rarely missed a game. She may not have watched when things got too dicey during an event, but she was always there. Once they grew up, she moved on to her beloved grandchildren and their activities. Upon her falling too ill to make it to those events, she would smile as she was told of a recital, play or soccer game, never once complaining of her illness that robbed her of so many things. She loved her family so much.

Georgia was also blessed with a close-knit group of friends who enjoyed her company and were always there for her. They would take trips with her, go out to dinners and finally when she could not do the things she loved, they would talk on the phone with her and comfort her in that way. Georgia is greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Clifton Rasch; her sons Christopher (Tia) Rasch and Jason (Jessica) Rasch; grandchildren Sara, Heidi and Andrew; her brother Paul (JoAnn) Sharich; her sister Barbara (Wayne) Gardner; brother James Buvens; and sister Suzanne Simmons.

Georgia was preceded in death by her father, Paul Sharich, who was killed in World War II; her mother and loving stepfather Jim and Mayme Buvens; her sister Carol Mackey; and brother David Buvens.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Visitation: Will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday before the funeral service at the church. Arrangements are by Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.

Printed in the Hibbing Daily Tribune, Nov 16, 2012.
