Mrs. B. Jean Tarte Martin, age 77, wife of Mr. Tommy Martin passed away June 20, 2016 at Grand Strand Medical Center following an extended illness with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. Martin was born May 28, 1939 a daughter of the late Elbert M. Tarte and the late Flora Parker Tarte Mew. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alton Bunker, one brother, Ronnie Tarte, one sister, Doris Tarte Todd, and one grandson, Aaron Bunker.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Grace Baptist Temple Church. She opened Jean's Daycare in 1983 and had a special love for children. Mrs. Martin received an award for caring for over 100 foster children throughout many years.
Surviving Mrs. Martin in addition to her husband Mr. Tommy Martin of the home are five sons, Ricky Bunker (Vicki) of Conway, SC, Steven Bunker of Shannon, NC, Buddy Martin Conners (Summer) of Conway, SC, Marshall Martin of Washington State, Jon Martin of Aynor, two daughters, Vicki Rabon (Erroll) of Aynor, Melinda Martin of Rochester, NY, two brothers, Bobby E. Tarte (Shirley) of San Antonia, TX, Eddie Tarte (Lois) of Myrtle Beach, SC, one sister, Helen Rapp (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, SC, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, and her pet companion TAZ.
Mrs. Martin's family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Thursday, June 23, 2016 beginning at 3:00 PM at Grace Baptist Temple. Funeral services will follow beginning at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Tom Lovern and Chaplin Eddie Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Aynor Cemetery.
