The El Reno Tribune -- November 1, 2006
Glennis Fay Schmoyer was born Dec. 18, 1913, weighing less than 3 pounds. She lived a full and happy life until her death on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Chico, Calif., where she moved to be near her family. Most of her life was spent in El Reno but she also called Texas her home after moving there with her husband in 1980.
Glennis owned Ireland Portrait Studio and took high school annual pictures for many years. After closing the studio in 1956, she worked part time for several businesses on Rock Island. She could be found at the florist, fabric shop, children's clothing or ladies fashion shop. Her last job was working full time for Avis' Fashions. In addition to being versatile, she was an artist of rare talent. Her "Bits of Beauty" dimensional oil paintings on layered glass are unique.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, an infant brother, her husband, Sid, and son, John.
She is survived by her daughter, Sydney S. (Elmer) Dickson, and two grandchildren, Kimberly (Fred) Polizo and Clay Dickson.
A graveside service is planned in the El Reno Cemetery on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kidney Foundation.
