He worked at Sheller Globe Corp. and the Montpelier Lumber Yard and belonged to the Blackford County EMS. He was a member of the Montpelier Lions Club and Jaycees. A former Montpelier Police Department reserve officer and Blackford County Sheriff's Department reserve deputy, he had attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Montpelier. He served in the United States Marine Corp. from Jan. 12 1960 to May 6, 1960 and was a 1959 graduate of Montpelier High School.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Steven T. Kershner of Montpelier; two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Christina Louise) Shuman of Bluffton and Mrs. Lewis (DeAnna Marie) West of Montpelier; two brothers, Stephen Kershner of Cartersville, Ga., and Thomas Kershner, of Ninevah; two sisters, Sharon L. Gelatt of Elkhart and Cathy E. Craig of Brazil, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild.
