With ox teams they tracked westward to the town of Granville. Mrs. Dent passed a most eventful life, her span of years having covered the period from the tallow dip in the log cabin of the pioneer settlers, through to the ox team, the auto and the airplanes, and the kerosene lamp, the candle wick and then electricity. She was a most companionable woman, very anxious to make her family happy. She was married Feb. 5, 1863, to James S. Dent. Seven children were born to them and there are surviving three sons, Andrew of Waco, Tex.; Willis, on the homestead, and Elmer at Waukesha. Also two brothers, William Oliver of Granada, Minn.; John Oliver of Minneapolis, and one sister, Mrs. Edna Brown of Templeton. Also two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her family came from a line of the Sons of the Revolution. She was eligible as a D. A. R. Her grandfather was a soldier in the Washington army. She has had relatives in the service in all the wars down to the World War, when her son Elmer was overseas.
The last rites will be observed today at the Schmidt Funeral Home. Interment will be at the family lot at Sunnyside cemetery."
