George Matthew Bancroft died Saturday morning at his country home one mile north of Menomonee Falls.
Mr. Bancroft was born in 1828, May 4, and settled in Wisconsin ,in 1842, where he has lived ever since. He was one of the early settlers at Menomonee and improved his claim of woodland until, he had one of the best eighty acre farms in that section. He was well known as a hospitable and kind neighbor by his many acquaintances thereabouts. Mr. Bancroft was nearly 77 years of age, and leaves besides his elderly wife, two. sons: Charles, who resides on the farm; Bert of this city, and two daughters, Mrs. J. D. Wood, of Menomonee, and Mrs. Minor, of this city. o He was a well-to-do farmer."
