Obituary -- Mrs Ella Palmer
Sarah Rosella Spencer Palmer was born near Lafayette, Ind,. December 15, 1858., and died in Mount Ayr, Iowa, August 22, 1915 at 7:20 a.m. aged 56 years, 8 months, and 7 days.
She was married to Miles R. Nicholas November 25, 1875, who died in 1880. To this union were born two children, Elmer Leroy, who resides in Mount Ayr and Clara Belle Lowder, who died near Chula, Mo., February 19, 1911.
She was again married to Ira A. Palmer, whose death occurred in 1905 in Nevada, Mo. Two sons were born tom this union both of them dying in infancy. Besides her dear mother, with whom she made her home since the death of her husband, and her son Elmer she leaves four brothers and one sister, She also leaves 14 grandchildren, a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her loss.
Early in life she became a Christian and her faith failed not all through the years. For a number of years she has been a member of the Church of Christ in Mount Ayr, and while not privileged to attend very much, she has been deeply interested in all the affairs of the church and her christian experiences and joy deepened with the days.
She was a devoted member of the Women's Missionary society and found great delight in that good work. Her sisters in that organization greatly appreciated her presence and good cheer.
For 12 years she had been afflicted with Rheumatism and although unable to walk and almost a constant sufferer, she was always cheerful and hopeful, and to those that knew her best the memory of her kind and patient disposition will will be an inspiration and her worthy life a benediction.
Her faith in the Master whom she delighted to serve, grew brighter and brighter even unto the perfect day. Her message to those around her in her last days was "When Jesus calls I am ready to go. Do not grieve for all is well" How fitting that in the early light of the Lord's day morning her Lord should come for her. "Beautiful toiler, thy work all done. Beautiful soul into glory gone, Beautiful life with it's Crown now won, God giveth thee rest'"
The funeral was held this forenoon at 10 o'clock from the Church of Christ, conducted by the Pastor L.C. Swan, and the body was laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery. Tingley, Iowa
