James E. Ringer VIRGINIA BEACH - James E. Ringer, 76, passed away Nov. 17, 2010 surrounded by his five children, family and friends. He was born June 26, 1934 in Waynesboro, Pa., to Joseph and Anna Ringer. James moved to Virginia in 1953 and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. For a period of time, James was a snow bird, spending winters in Florida and summers in Virginia Beach. He became a full time Florida resident in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 110 of Port Charlotte, Fla. He is survived by his five children, Laura Bowen (Richard), James D. Ringer (Jeanne), Linda Badgley, Paul Ringer (Lin) and Vickie Burford (Scott). He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Mary Lou White of Ringwood, N.J., Jeanie Fleagle and Barbara Niedentohl of Waynesboro, Pa. He is also survived by his brother, John Ringer of Waynesboro, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Daniel H. (Heinz) Ringer; grandson, William James Bowen; and son-in-law, Roy Badgley. A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Liz and Scotty O'Connell for the love and devotion expressed to Big Jim who was like a father to them both. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
