Altamont-HONORABLE JUDGE (RETIRED) EARLENE YVONNE EVANS HAMMOND, formerly of Pinehurst - Tomball, Texas, 66, died Sunday October 29, 2006 at her home. She was born on March 24, 1940 to Henry and Nora Botkin Evans. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Altamont and served as General Sessions Judge and Juvenile Judge in the Grundy County Court System from 1998 until 2006. She was a graduate of University of Georgia Law School and practiced law in Texas from 1984 to 1989 prior to moving to Altamont where she practiced law from 1990 to 2005. She also served on the board of Elections and Exceptional Enterprises board of directors.

She is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law; son and daughter-in-law; a granddaughter; three sisters and their families.

Funeral services will be at the Altamont Church of Christ with Minister Joe D. Gray officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont City Cemetery. Visitation 4:00 PM Till 9:00 PM Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.
