Green Anderson Allison, my GG-Grandfather born 1829 in Georgia. In 1850 we find Green in Bienville Parish, Louisiana working as a laborer. He meets and marry my GG-Grandmother Sarah A. Stevenson June 1, 1851 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. Their first child a girl was born in 1853 and she was my G-Grandmother Mary Elizabeth "Allison" Terry. A year later James Gillham was born. In 1855 Green buys an 80 acre farm and lives there two years, then in 1857 he sells the farm and moves to Milam County, Texas and their last child Martha "Allison" Darnell was born.

The war between the states had begun and in the late summer of 1861 Green felt the need to volunteer for the cause he believed in, so he enlisted in Co. E, 4th Texas Cavalry as a Private in the Confederate States Army. The unit was assigned to the Trans Mississippi Department. The saw action in numerous conflicts in Louisiana. Green was captured April 14, 1863 at Franklin LA. He was paroled at Port Hudson LA., May 5, 1863 and went back home to his family.

After the war the family moved to Sulphur Fork, Lafayette, Arkansas where he purchased 160 acre farm till 1877,he then sold the farm and moved to Bowie County, TX., where he purchased 70 acre farm about 4 miles south from the town of DeKalb. Green applied for a Confederate Pension but was disapproved because of his 70 acres of land. He as feeble and almost blind.

Green died July 1, 1907 of malarial fever. He is buried at Hubbard Chapel Cemetery next to Grandma Sarah

Private Green A. Allison Co. E, 4th Texas Cavalry has now rejoined his old regiment. He has now crossed over and is resting under the shade of the tree.
