in 1899 Charles and Lila moved to El Paso, Texas, where Charles was associated with the El Paso Herald. He also had a curio shop.
In 1905, the Allens moved to Bisbee, Arizona, where started the Standard Furniture Company. Charles and his brother built the Allen Block in Bisbee--the first area of office buildings in Bisbee.
Charles was a member of the B.P.O.E Elks, the Odd Fellows and Rotary.
