WILLIAM OSCAR HEARN FUNERAL IN AUGUST
William Oscar Hearn, who died a day before his 86th birthday, succumbed at the Newton Hospital Aug. 16, 1969. He was born Aug. 17, 1883, in Newton County, a son of the late Sara Ann Webb and Orelius Lee Hearn. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Hearn leaves his wife, Mrs. Arlie Overstreet Hearn, Hickory; two sons, Lee Hearn of Hickory and Clinton Hearn of Augusta, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. Dell Miles of Collinsville, Mrs. L. P. Mattlock of Decatur and Mrs. Olen Cochran of Hickory; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Laura Elam of Jackson, and a brother, Tom Hearn of Artesia, New Mex.
His funeral was held Aug. 18 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Laird and H. L. Davis officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Stephens Funeral home of Meridian in charge.
Ben Harrison. Hulon McKee, Roy Thorne, Hancel Thorne, Stanley Henderson and Vester Hurst served as active pallbearers.
