ALPHONSE RHEIN

Alphonse Rhein, 75, of Route 1, Mishicot, died Friday afternoon at Theda Clarke Hospital at Neenah following a three week illness. Funeral services will be at 10 am Monday at Lambert Funeral Home at Mishicot and at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rev. Anthony Betley will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rhein was born Sept. 1, 1891 in the Town of Gibson, son of the late Christ and Selma Defout Rhein. He owned and operated a farm in the Town of Gibson for 30 years and also did carpentry. In 1947 he retired and moved to Mishicot. He married the former Clara Kronforst Oct. 6, 1914 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a trustee of the church.
Mr. Rhein had also served as a member of the Kettle Range School Board and as an officer of the Kettle Range Cheese Factory. A charter member of the Catholic Knights Insurance Co., he received a gold rosary from the company five years ago.
Surviving are his wife; one son, James on the home farm; three daughters, Mrs. Carl (Norma) Owart of Two Rivers and Mrs. Ralph (Caroline) Dvorak and Mrs. Marvin (Laverne) Peltier, both of Mishicot and 18 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm Sunday. The Parish Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Sunday and the Catholic Knights Rosary at 8:30.
