Biography •
Fireman on Texas (locomotive of General-Texas fame at Cyclorama) at age 16. Drove it to Grant Park (had accident on the way). Made run as conductor from Chattanooga to Atlanta. met Eva at stop at Dalton. Conductors made a lot of money as pay and additionally as "commission" on passenger fares.

Had brother Horace, who was an artist. Had painting hung in rotunda at Georgia Captiol (now moved to museum).

Educated at Acworth Academy in Acworth, GA Went to work for Western &Atlantic Railroad in 1873 Worked at W&A for 10 years as a brakeman and conductor Left W&A in 1883 to work at East Tenn Virginia & Ga Railroad Worked at at ETV&G for 10 years as a brakeman and conductor

In 1883 ETV&G became Southern Railroad Retired from Southern Railroad

In 1918 his friend and close associate and fellow railroad worker became Sheriff of Fulton County. He hired Horatio as Deputy Sheriff. Member and Secretary Treasurer of Ga Peace Officer and Sheriffs Assoc. Member of Bolton Masonic Lodge.
