He is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He worked for over 68 years as an operating engineer out of Local #649 and served as a Business Representative. He was a former chairman and member of the Peoria Regional Airport Authority, Hanna City Sportsman's Club, Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Joseph Robbins Masonic Lodge, former Moose and Eagles Lodge member.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII and was selected for a Peoria Honor Flight.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Bartonville. Jim was a giving and loving person with a keen sense of humor. He was very mechanically inclined and a jack of all trades. There was nothing he could not accomplish.
Funeral services July 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Bartonville. Burial in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

Jim's father was a barber, a very portable skill. The family moved on from Texas and was living in Cripple Creek, Colorado, in 1935. After Jim's mother died when he was only 10, Jim went to live with his paternal grandparents in Colorado, while his father moved on to the Midwest. (1930 and 1940 census records.)
