Mr. Allen retired in 1962 as a sergeant with the Wilmington Police Department where he worked for 20 years. In 1982, he retired from Mellon Bank where he worked in the accounting and auditing division for 20 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minster and was a member of the choir and Outreach Program. He was also an original member of the Talleyville Fire Company.
His wife, Mary Elizabeth (Gilmore) Allen, predeceased him in 1995.
He is survived by his sons, Bud Allen and Bob Allen, and his wife, JoAnne, and 2 grandsons, Randolph M. and Richard M; and his close friend, Marie Duzynski, all of Wilmington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington. Friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday evening between 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 703 North Broom Street, Wilmington. Interment will be at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
