Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016, 11:00 am , at Chapman Funeral Chapel with Brother Michael Batten officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Wayne County. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
Dottie was born March 28, 1957 in Brunswick, to Carl Grady Conaway, Sr. and Susie Anna Elizabeth Hope Conaway. She was a 1975 graduate of Hayfield High School in Alexandria, VA. She attended the University of Georgia receiving a degree in nursing, and worked for several years in Atlanta area hospitals, she enjoyed caring for the elderly as a private in home nurse, and while in Atlanta, had also worked with the City of Atlanta Police Department as a police officer. Prior to moving to Brunswick two years ago, she had lived in the Ocala, Deland, and Daytona Beach areas of Florida where she was an avid horse enthusiast, training, buying and selling horses.
Survivors include her father, Carl G. Conaway, Sr., her partner in life, Wesley Burnett, a son, Brian E. Acree, a brother, Carl G. Conaway, Jr.(Joyce), a sister, Syndie L. Conaway Tyre (Herby), all of Brunswick, a daughter, Brandice N. Choi of Jacksonville, 3 grandchildren, Dorian Mitchell, Anthony Abato, Evin Zakrzewski, a nephew, Matthew Tyre, and a niece, Amanda Conaway. She was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Anna Elizabeth Hope Conaway.
