Evelyn J. “Rusty” McCarty, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 10:45 A.M. on Monday, February 14, 2011, in her home after an extended illness. Mrs. McCarty was a graduate of Kendallville High School in Kendallville, Indiana, and retired in 1982 after fifty-eight years as a manager, bartender and hostess in several area restaurants. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233.
Evelyn J. McCarty was born on August 22, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Cleeson A. and Beatrice I. (Wasson) Miller.
Surviving are one daughter, Judith A. Runyan; of Lima, Ohio; one son, Thomas W. Easterday, in California; and seven grandchildren, Michelle Stone, Kelley Hartranft, Scott Pollick, Steven Collins, Kayleen Leonard and Todd R. Collins. Also surviving are twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Cheryl Hicks, a grandson, Gary Collins, and her grandmother, Ida Belle Lash.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday at 7:30 P.M. Services will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Reverend James Halleron officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
