Funeral services for Charles Ray Baker, 72, of Lufkin will be held in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Baker was born November 29, 1943 in Moscow, Texas to the late Johnny David Baker and Ada Emma Evalina (Meeks) Baker, and died Sunday, July 3, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mr. Baker had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the Texas National Guard and had worked for both the City of Lufkin and the City of Nacogdoches. Mr. Baker was known as the “Mower Man” in Clawson. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, who he loved very much. He was known for reminiscing.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Baker; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jay Selle and Vicki and Philip Currie; son and daughter-in-law, James and Stacy Baker; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nola Evans; and a number of nieces, nephews, friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Franklin Baker; parents-in-law, Rev. B.L. and Eunice West; and brother-in-law, Barney “Buddy” West.
