Born in Mt. Holly he was a son of Carlton and Edna Alcott. He served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of Bulge in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha of 53 years; children, Franklin Jr., Rusty Simpkins, Gerald Alcott, and Debbie Winstanley (Leon); grandchildren, Terri, Lisa, Richard, Michael, Chad, Kayla, and Jerry; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Mary Beaumont, Gloria Lucas, and Jane Alcott; brother, Bill Alcott; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his children, Don and Sherri; brothers, Russell, Sparky, and Horace; and sister, Doris Dobovitch.
Relatives and friends may visit the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday July 8, at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mt. Holly and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday July 9, 2016, at Tabernacle Church of Christ, 160 Carranza Road, Tabernacle. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place in the Junior Mechanics Cemetery, Tabernacle.
