Obituary in the Kingston Freeman on 25 Sep 1939.

Mrs. Caroline Heppner, wife of the late Frederick Heppner, well known former policeman, died Saturday following a long illness.

She was born in Germany and came to this city 72 years ago, where by her devotion to her family and kindness to all, she had endeared herself to a very large circle of friends. She was a faithful member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, and for 32 years was president of the sewing circle, and by her activities in the church and social life, and her willingness to assist anyone in sickness or trouble, will long live in the hearts of all who knew her.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Clare Marquart, of this city; two sons, Fred Heppner of Haverstraw and Albert Heppner of San Francisco, Cal; one sister, Mrs. Wilhelmina Letzeisen of Poughkeepsie, and one brother, Charles Schleede, of this city; also six grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from her late home, 72 Crane Street, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The interment will be in the family plot in Montrepose Cemetery. Friends may call this afternoon and evening from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 o’clock.

Funeral notice in the Kingston Freeman on 27 Sep 1939.

The funeral of Mrs. Caroline Heppner was held from her late home yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock and was conducted by her nephew, the Rev. Carl Schleede, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Schenectady. He paid a glowing tribute as to the sterling Christian character and of her devotion to her family, friends and church.
The home was filled with relatives and friends who gathered to pay a final tribute to one who held a vital place in their hearts. A great profusion of beautiful floral tributes added to the visible evidence of their esteem.
The bearers were Alfred and Walter Marquart, Frederick, Jack, Martin and Paul Schleede. Burial was in the family plot in Montrepose Cemetery, where Pastor Schleede conducted the committal services as the remains were laid to rest.
