Philando was born in St Louis, Missouri to Valerie Castile. He attended the University of Minnesota. Philando began as a nutrition services assistant, then got promoted to nutrition services supervisor at J. J. Montessori Magnet School in August 2014. On July 6, 2016 he was pulled over at a traffic stop and was shot and killed, with his girlfriend and his child in the car. On July 14 2016 Castile funeral was at the Cathedral Of Saint Paul, thousands of people attended the funeral. A private burial was after the funeral.
