WATERBURY – Antoinette L. “Toni” (Oricchio) DeSantis, age 91, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully after a long and severe battle with dementia on Sept. 10, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved widow of Arthur A. DeSantis for 50 years.

Toni was born on June 14, 1929 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Virgil and Ida (Sica) Oricchio. She attended Wilby High School.

Before retiring, Toni worked as a office aide at Hopeville School in Waterbury for 25 years. She was a proud member of the South End Seniors. Toni was a phenomenal cook and had the cleanest house in the universe. Her mission in life was to take care of her family, which she adored.

She leaves her son, Michael A. DeSantis of Waterbury, with whom she made her home; daughter Karen Ginn of Watertown; brother Francis “Rick” Oricchio and his wife Rosemarie, of Wolcott; and grandson Scott Ginn and his wife Melanie, of Waterbury.

She was predeceased by by her son-in-law, Terry Ginn.

The family would also like to thank her wonderful caretakers, Emelia Caffrey, Lavern Mason, Kandy Doty and Theresa Padana, who made her end of life tolerable and became part of the family.

Her funeral will be on Monday at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Calvary Queen of Peace Mausoleum. A calling hour will be on Monday morning from 8 to 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Masonicare Home Hospice, c/o Masonic Charity Foundation of CT, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492-7001; or the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., Southington , CT 06489.
