Edgar was the Son of Louis Henry Schaeffer and Melly Newby Wilson Schaeffer.

Brother of Florence Jane Schaeffer Wilson Gruber.

Spouse of Georgia Anne Tralle whom he married December 20, 1913 in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas.

Father of: Louis Henry Schaeffer, Thomas Edgar Schaeffer and James Arthur Schaeffer.

When Uncle Edgar was young he had an accident and lost the sight in one eye and then the resulting infection caused him to loose the sight in the other eye. He attended the Kansas Institution for The Education of The Blind from 1890 -1894 for sure. He may have been a student there longer but these are the only dates in surviving records. In 1894 he was in the 4th Grade.

Uncle Edgar was a Hayrack Maker in June of 1900 while he lived at 207 Fremont Street, Kansas City. And from 1907-1909 he lived at 508 W. Front, North Platte, Lincoln County, Nebraska. In April of 1910 we find him living with his Father at 65 Fremont Street in Kansas City and his not recored as working. In January of 1920 we find Edgar and Georgia and two sons living at 302 North 7th Street in Kansas City and he is working as a Broom Maker in a Factory.
And in 1930 the family is living at 733 Highland Avenue, Kansas City and Edgar is still working as a Broom Maker.

He was a very resourceful man who succeeded in all of his endeavors. From the 1940's till the late 60's he traveled to Berkeley and Santa Rosa, California to visit with his Sister and her family many times. My husband remembers playing cards with Uncle Edgar and having many good times with him. He was a very fun person and always upbeat.
