Phillip Edwin Elliott, 77, of Big Spring, won the battle over his failing body and united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday night July 6, 2016.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Myers and Smith Chapel with Brother Joey Bacon, officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born November 4, 1938 in Big Spring, Texas.

He joined the United States Navy in 1958 and served for four years with an honorable discharge.

Phil retired in 2000 after working for 38 years at Cosden/Alon Refinery.

He enjoyed being on the golf course, singing in the church choir and helping others. He was well known for his compassion for others and generosity of spirit. He would help anyone at any time whether he knew them or not.

He married Nan (Cookie) Rankin in 1962 and they were married for 54 years. They had two children: Clint Elliott and wife Joie of Big Spring and Lori Treadwell and husband Paul of Dripping Springs; five grandchildren: Macee and Caleb Gonzales, Spenser Ayer and husband Philip, Rylee Hayworth and Zain Treadwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. E. Ace Elliott and Jean Brewer Yates Kay, his step-father Don Yates and his sister Donna Yates Kay. He is survived by his wife Cookie and his sister Deanna Rogers of Denton and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Paul Treadwell, Zain Treadwell, Caleb Gonzales, Philip Ayer, Gene Froman and Gene Piercefield. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Porch, Gary Cole, Bo Clawson, Jess Colgrove, Nard McMahan and Jonathon White.
