Evan Remington Haupt Charleston - Evan Remington Haupt, 82, beloved husband of Ruth Lamp Haupt of Charleston, SC passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Victory House in Walterboro, SC. Burial services will be private. A memorial service in honor of Mr. Haupt will be held at a later date. Mr. Haupt was born November 10, 1933 in Newark, New Jersey, son of the late Frank Diedrich Haupt and Marjorie Remington Haupt. He attended Belleview Prep and graduated from Upsala College with a degree in Business Administration. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, where he served on the destroyer USS Cony. Mr. Haupt was employed with the U.S. Government in Washington, DC as a management analyst with the U.S. Treasury Department, and the Department of The Housing and Urban Development. He also owned Remington Properties, a Real Estate Investment Firm in Alexandria, VA. After his retirement, he enjoyed his hobby of license plate collecting and acquired over 20,000 plates. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Lamp Haupt of Charleston, SC; one sister, Gail Haupt Lewis and her husband, Dr. Myron Lewis of Memphis TN; three nieces, Robin Wallace and her husband Jeff of Germantown, TN, Tracey Lewis of Nashville, TN, and Joelle Rogin of Memphis TN; two grand-nephews, and two grand-nieces also survive him.

A Memorial Service in honor of Mr. Evan Remington Haupt will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1157 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.
