Otto J. Hoffman, 68, of New Castle RD. 2, Covert Road, formerly of Maryland, died at 3:30 p.m. June 1, 1979 in Golden Hill Nursing Home after an extended illness.
He was born in New Wells, Mo. on Dec. 5, 1910 to the late Julius and Tillie Mirley Hoffman. He was a retired school bus driver of Indian Head, Md.
Mr. Hoffman was of the Lutheran faith and was an Army veteran of World War II.
His wife, the former Adella Wonderlick, died on Feb. 22, 1967.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Rose) McCowin of New Castle, and Mrs. Mary Ann Canalous of La Plata, Md.; a brother, William Hoffman of New Wells, Mo., and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harold.
The body has been taken to the Arehart Funeral Home in  La Plata, Md., where friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The service will be at 1 p m Wednesday at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Eric Peterson of the Grace Lutheran Church of LaPlata. Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens at Waldorf, Md.
Local arrangements were made by the Edward A. and Donald G. DeCarbo Funeral Home, South Mill and East Lutton streets.
