Sandra Louise, 11 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barrett was fatally wounded in an accident in the yard of the family home east of Marble Hill, March 17. She and a brother, Carl, 15, were returning to the house from an area where they had been setting out some small pine trees. Sandra was a sixth grade pupil at Woodland School at Lutesville. According to reports Sandra was walking in front of her brother, who was carrying a shotgun, which had been taken along to the field to shoot at rabbits. It is thought that the youth was starting to unload the gun when in some manner it dischared with the load striking the child in the back of the neck. Sandra was born September 5, 1954 in Cape Girardeau. In addition to her parents and brother, Carl, she is survived by an older brother, Charles Mayrand of Chaffee. Funeral services were held Saturday at County Line Baptist Church east of Marble Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery with Baker Funeral Home in charge.
