Richard C. Craig, age 82, of Crown Point, IN passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joyce E. Craig of 59 years; son: Robert Craig Idaville, IN; daughter: Elizabeth (John Jr.) Andershock Chesterton, IN; grandchildren: Lindsey (Chris) Funk, Lauren (Brad) Hulbert, Jonathon Andershock, Samantha Craig, Joseph Andershock; great- granddaughter: Bridget Hulbert. He was preceded in death by parents: Joseph and Muriel Craig and sister, Patricia Craig Schlaff. As a member of First United Methodist Church in Crown Point, Richard served as a Stephen Minister, taught Disciple classes and served in many mission trips in the West. He also was active as a Youth Leader for high school hiking and bicycle trips. Dick was a graduate of Olivet College in Michigan, class of 1957, where he earned a degree in Biology. He worked at U.S. Steel for thirty years and was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a medic. His many experiences included volunteering as a lighthouse keeper and a Park Ranger in the Interpretive Division at Organ Pipe National Monument, and working with Habitat for Humanity. He was a Yoke Fellow and an Eagle Scout, and was active in the Playmakers as a stage manager. Dick enjoyed traveling all over the world along with his wife. Funeral Services held at First United Methodist Church, 352 S. Main St, Crown Point, IN 46307 with Pastor Mark Wilkins officiating. Services will conclude at the church with cremation to follow.
