RICHMOND, Ind. – Kenneth Wilson Brown, age 97, of Richmond, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at Friends Fellowship Community surrounded by his family. Ken was born on February 22, 1919, in French Lick, Indiana, to James Washington Brown and Rosa Alice Walls Brown. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. Ken served in France and Germany where he earned two purple hearts while in the 3rd Army under the command of General George S. Patton Jr. He lived in Richmond for the last 27 years, after moving from Connersville, Indiana. Ken was Production Control Manager for Stant Manufacturing for 33 years and worked for American Heritage Realty in Connersville for 22 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 in Connersville, Indiana, and First Baptist Church of Richmond. Ken dedicated his life to loving and caring for his wife and family. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Ada Fowler Brown; children, Marilyn (Tom) Noble of Greenwood, Indiana, Elaine (Bill) Foley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Gary (Lois) Brown of Richmond, and Sherri Harrison of Richmond; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Philip) Swabsin, Greg (Jennifer) Noble, Leslie (Chad) Bolser, Andrew (Camden) Brown, and Kaitlyn Harrison; great-grandchildren, Annika and Thomas Swabsin, Connor, Myriah, and Makayla Noble, Mallory and Maren Bolser, and Alice and Benjamin Wilson Brown; nieces; nephews; and his friends at Friends Fellowship Community. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Olive Bennett and Jewell Young; and brothers, Paul and E. Keith Brown. Ken’s family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and caregivers of Friends Fellowship Community for their love, friendship, and exceptional care! They were all just like family. Visitation for Kenneth Wilson Brown will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James Spon officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
