He married Dorothy Karkiainen on August 26, 1943 in Bovey, MN. Tauno served in the Army Air Corps. He worked as a millwright/welder in the mining and construction industries and was employed as a boilermaker in North Dakota at several power plants. Tauno was very proud of receiving his high school diploma at the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Kreeta Ainasoja, five brothers and four sisters.
Tauno is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy of Wawina; a son, Curtis (Debra) Ainasoja of Wawina; three great granddaughters, Taylor, Morgan and Izabel and his dog, Sisu.
Memorial Services were held on Friday, January 2, 2009 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Memorials may be made to the animal humane society of your choice.
